May 2012, Vince Rose of ACES/ American Crocodile Education Sanctuary rescued Tia during a croc-human conflict call in Ambergris Caye. Dehydrated, starving, and injured, Tia's rescue did not stop there. I notified The Belize Forest Department and Vince flew her to the mainland via Maya Island Air; and then drove Tia to the main office of the BFD in Belmopan. There, Tamandua specialist Ella Baron and Belize Forest Department?s Jazmin Ramos rushed Tia to The Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic where she was treated by Dr. Isabelle Paquet-Durand. With a broken paw, injured tail, and dislocated hip, Ella Baron took on the exhausting job of caring for and rehabilitating Tia at the Caves Branch Jungle Lodge. What a great feeling to watch her release and know that the Belize Wildlife Conservation Network is making a huge difference in the rescue of Belize?s amazing wildlife. Thank you everyone! And, a special thanks to Ella for your expertise, compassion, and commitment.
