Earth Day Clean Up

Happy Earth Day! Today we honored Mother Earth by cleaning a precious wetland habitat on Ambergris Caye: the mangroves. Home to so many species of wildlife, a nursery for young marine life, filtration of salts and pollutants, protection against storms, prevention of erosion, and masters at combating climate change by converting large amounts of carbon dioxide into biomass, mangroves are crucial to the future of our planet, especially Ambergris Caye.

And what a reward it was to have a group of kids show up, curious about what we were doing. Not only were they enthusiastic about helping us, but they were asking when we were planning on doing it again, inspiring us to brainstorm a program for their school.

Mother Earth gave us a beautiful day today and we couldn't have been happier about the outcome! Thank you to all who participated and Hol Chan Marine Reserve for donating gas for the event!
