Slitherin Slippy

This here is Mr Grumpous and he is one unhappy snake.

Mr Grumpous was saved from the machete by a kind individual who called us to come rescue him. Unfortunately for Mr Grumpous, before the Good Samaritan could step in the snake was placed into an old vegetable oil container and consequently was one slippery critter when we managed to get him out of the bottle! He settled down during his (numerous) baths which were necessary to remove all the oil, and we kept him overnight to monitor for any abnormalities. He was back to his original grumpy self this morning so he’s been released in an area where contact with people is unlikely.

Mr Grumpous is a 5.5ft red tailed boa, a harmless species that is native to the island. They are non-venomous and are usually very docile, striking defensively only in rare circumstances if they feel cornered or threatened. They pose no threat to people and very rarely grow to a size on the Caye where they could pose a threat to small children or pets. If you encounter one on your property it’s best to leave them alone. They won’t bother you but they will keep the population of pests under control.
